Have you ever wondered what types of social media are out there, and what platform you should be sharing on?
There are so many ways these days you can successfully do online marketing for your business. Whether you are with a Direct sales company or MLM, affiliate marketing or working for a firm, there are many ways you can get your opportunity, products and service in front of your audience.
Following is a list of social media sites that have evolved over the years since Facebook was introduced in 2004. Today social media sites get used for many different reasons. You can be on them socially, convenience (as in keeping in touch with family), or for business. And of course some platforms are definitely more popular than others.
Some platforms cater for people who choose to communicate through photographs, and there are others are for written information. But either way, you can get your message – whether business or personal – out there FAST!
I personally like to blog which is exactly where you are right now!
Being able to share my passions through blogging is just awesome, and a place I can call my home on the internet. And if you are interested in making money online sharing what you do, or you have a hobby or passion, then definitely check out my review to get fully informed on how.
Types of Online Marketing Social Media Platforms
Social Media Favorites
The biggest and most widely used would have to be Facebook, Youtube and Intstagram. But others include Linkedin, Snapchat, Twitter, Pinterest, Quora, Vine, Persiscope, and the list goes on!
Social Bookmarking Sites
Google+, CafeMom, Gather, Twitter, Linkedin, Tumblr, Posterous, Stumble Upon, Digg and Delicious, Reddit, Newsvine, Scoop it, Slashdot and many more!
Social bookmarking is quite good where you can add your web pages and posts on these sites and always have easy access to them. People will be inclined (if it is good content) to bookmark for later, and possibly share them too.
Blogging and Websites
Wealthy Affiliate, Wix, Weebly, WordPress, Wix, Yola
My favourite is definitely blogging. You can communicate your ideas, knowledge, video content and direct your audience to products or services with your blog. But is a blog social media and can you market and share with it?
Well according to Wikipedia yes it is. Check out the article that explains how user generated content such as posts and articles make up a large part of social media.
So many topics can be covered on your blog and website, just look around mine and it will be testament to that!
Video Sharing Sites
Youtube, Vimeo, Viddler, Daily motion and Veoh
Of course the popular one here being youtube. With over 100 hours of video being uploaded every minute – yes you heard right – every minute, there is no shortage of videos to view.
And if you are one of the people who do upload videos then chances are your video will be viewed. Youtube has over a billion users, which is over one third of the world’s internet users!
But as you saw above there are other video sharing sites that you can use for your social media marketing as well.
Photo Sharing Sites to share you favorite pics
Instagram, Photobucket, Google photos, Pinterest, Dropbox and Flickr just to name a few.
Instagram is probably the most popular one here with over 500 million active users and comes in behind Facebook. (Facebook can be considered a photo sharing site too!) But, it seems people love engaging, simply with images.
With ease of use, and being able to follow absolutely anybody, Instagram is definitely a favorite, and widely used by the younger generation. But it definitely is a tool that can be used for your business.
I do hope you enjoyed this brief summary of online social media sites. Look the list could go on and on, however these are probably the most widely used for your blog posts, video marketing or business opportunities. One thing is for certain. You will never have lack of platforms to share your content on whether for business purposes or personal use.
Perhaps you know of other social media platforms that can successfully be used for your business. Feel free to add a comment and list them below.
